Quick Info
On the night of December 14, 1994, in Trumbull County, Ohio (and spilling into neighboring counties), multiple police officers from different departments chased a large, low-flying UFO described as triangular or disc-shaped with bright lights. The pursuit lasted several hours, covered dozens of miles, and was captured on real-time police radio audio.
Dashcam video from at least one of the cruisers involved in the chase exists. Radar correlation came from a nearby airport. The object hovered, accelerated instantly, it made right-angle turns at enormous speeds, and disappeared without trace. This is one of the best-documented police UFO chases in history, law enforcement officers from several jurisdictions witnessed and pursued the same object, with audio evidence to back it up.
Timeline of the Trumbull County Chase – December 14, 1994
Reconstructed from police radio audio, dashcam footage, officer statements, radar logs, and later interviews.
- Evening, December 14, 1994 Between 6:30–7:00 p.m. Police dispatch in Trumbull County receives calls about a large, low-flying object with bright lights moving over residential areas and rural roads. Officers are sent to investigate.
- Between 7:00–8:00 p.m. Multiple officers (including from Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department and local PDs) spot the object. Descriptions: large, triangular or disc-shaped, bright white/red lights, silent, hovering low (50–200 feet), moving slowly then accelerating instantly. Pursuit begins, officers follow in cruisers, reporting over radio.
- Between 8:00–9:00 p.m. Chase spreads across counties (Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage). Officers describe impossible maneuvers: right-angle turns at speed, sudden stops, hovering over fields, then rapid acceleration. Radio audio captures excitement and confusion. One dashcam records the object moving low and fast.
- Between 9:00–10:00 p.m. Airport radar in Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport picks up the object briefly. Officers continue pursuit. Object hovers over a field, then accelerates away and vanishes. No sonic boom, no debris. Chase ends as officers lose sight.
- Aftermath Officers file reports. Audio recordings and dashcam video are preserved. FAA and military are notified. No conventional explanation (no aircraft, no helicopter, no flare). Case gains media attention but is never officially explained.
- 1990s–2020s Audio and video released publicly. Officers interviewed by UFO researchers (MUFON, etc.). No debunking evidence emerges. Incident remains one of the best police UFO chases on record.
What the Officers Described
The officers were consistent in their descriptions. The object was large (estimated 100–300 feet across), triangular or disc-shaped, with bright white and red lights arranged in a pattern. It moved slowly at first (10–20 mph), then accelerated instantly to high speeds. It hovered low over fields and roads, made right-angle turns without slowing, and changed direction sharply. No sound, no exhaust, no rotor wash. Officers felt a sense of awe and unease, some said it felt like it was observing them. Radio audio captures real-time confusion and excitement: "It's moving fast now... it's gone... it just vanished." Dashcam shows a large, structured object moving low and fast, unlike any aircraft or flare.
"It was huge, triangular, with bright lights. It hovered low over the field, silent. When I got close, it accelerated straight up and was gone in seconds. No sound, no wind, nothing like any aircraft I've ever seen."
– Trumbull County Sheriff’s Deputy (1994 radio audio & interview)
That sudden vertical acceleration from low hover is what shocked the first officer on scene. He was close enough to see the lights clearly, then it was simply gone in seconds. No gradual climb, no turn, just straight up and out of sight. His voice says it all: disbelief mixed with adrenaline.
"We chased it across three counties. It made turns no aircraft can make. At one point it just stopped dead in the air, then shot away. Radar had it briefly, then nothing. I've never seen anything move like that."
– Local police officer (from pursuit audio and later testimony)
The multi-jurisdiction chase and radio chatter add credibility. Officers from different departments saw the same thing, reported it live, and none had a reason to fabricate. The object’s behavior, hovering, accelerating, vanishing, matches many modern UAP reports.
The Radio Transcripts: Real-Time Chase Audio
The most compelling evidence from the Trumbull County chase is the real-time police radio audio. Officers from multiple departments were talking live as they pursued the object, their voices capture the shock, confusion, and awe in the moment. The recordings were preserved and later released publicly (through MUFON and media outlets). Here are some of the most powerful excerpts, with context so you can feel what they were experiencing.
"Dispatch, I've got visual on it now. It's low, real low, bright lights... it's moving slow over the field... wait, it's picking up speed. Holy crap, it's gone, it just shot straight up!"
– Trumbull County Sheriff’s Deputy (real-time radio, approx. 7:45 p.m.)
That sudden vertical acceleration from low hover is what shocked the first officer on scene. He was close enough to see the lights clearly, then it was simply gone in seconds. No gradual climb, no turn, just straight up and out of sight. His voice says it all: disbelief mixed with adrenaline.
"Unit 12 to dispatch, I'm behind it now. It's triangular, lights on the corners, no sound at all. It's making a right-angle turn... it's turning again... this thing's not flying like anything I've seen. Speed's increasing fast."
– Local police officer (during pursuit, approx. 8:15 p.m.)
The right-angle turns at speed without slowing down or banking were reported by several officers. In 1994, no aircraft (military or civilian) could do that without massive G-forces or visible thrust. The officer’s calm description while chasing it shows he was trying to make sense of something impossible.
"All units, it's hovering again over the open field... lights are bright white and red... it's just sitting there... now it's moving sideways... real fast... gone. It's gone again."
– Another officer (approx. 8:45 p.m., multi-jurisdiction chatter)
This moment, hovering, then sideways acceleration, was repeated several times during the chase. Officers from different departments saw the same behavior, reported it live, and none could explain it. The repetition across jurisdictions makes fabrication extremely unlikely.
The audio is raw and unfiltered, you can hear the urgency, the disbelief, the back-and-forth between officers trying to keep up. No one sounds like they’re joking or exaggerating; they sound like trained professionals witnessing something they can’t believe. The fact that the chase lasted hours, crossed county lines, and was captured live on police channels adds enormous credibility. These weren’t UFO enthusiasts, they were cops doing their jobs, and they chased something that outran them completely.

The Official Response & Investigation
The Police officers all filed reports. The FAA and local military were notified as well. Radar data from Youngstown-Warren Airport showed an unidentified target. No conventional aircraft was in the area. No official explanation was ever released. The case received local media attention but was never fully investigated by federal agencies.
Thankfully audio and dashcam evidence was preserved and later released publicly. Researchers (MUFON, etc.) interviewed the officers and found no inconsistencies in their accounts of the event. No debunking evidence has emerged. The incident remains unexplained to this day.
Legacy in 2026
More than 30 years later, the Trumbull County UFO chase remains one of the best-documented police UFO pursuits in history. Multiple officers chased the same object across counties, captured it on radio audio and dashcam, and confirmed radar tracks. The object’s behavior, silent hovering, instant acceleration, right-angle turns, matches modern UAP reports.
The fact that trained law enforcement officers witnessed and pursued it adds huge credibility to the story. Also remember the chase lasted HOURS, this wasn't a blink-and-its-gone event, it really is highly weird to say the least.
