Quick Info
On the morning of September 1 1974, farmer Edwin Fuhr was out swathing his rapeseed field near Langenburg, Saskatchewan when he encountered something extraordinary. He saw five metallic, dome-shaped UFOs hovering just above the ground, spinning rapidly and causing the grass to swirl beneath them. Edwin watched them for about 15 minutes before they shot straight up and vanished.
The next day he discovered five perfectly circular rings pressed into the crop. The case was investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and remains one of Canada’s most credible and well-documented physical trace UFO events.
A Normal Morning Turns Extraordinary
Edwin Fuhr, a hardworking German-Canadian farmer, was doing what he did almost every day — harvesting his fields. On that sunny Sunday morning in early September, he was driving his swather through a field of rapeseed when he noticed something unusual ahead of him.
At first Edwin thought it might be ducks or some kind of machinery he was looking at, but as he got closer he realized these were objects he had never seen before.
The Five Dome-Shaped Objects
Edwin stopped the swather about 15 meters away and watched in stunned silence. There were five shiny, metallic, dome-shaped objects hovering roughly a foot off the ground. Each one was about 4 to 5 feet high and maybe 10 to 12 feet wide. The domes were spinning rapidly, causing the tall grass and crop beneath them to swirl in a clockwise direction. The objects made a slight humming or whistling sound.
“They were all spinning and the grass was swirling underneath them. I was scared. I didn’t know what to do.”
- Edwin Fuhr
Edwin sat frozen on his machine for nearly 15 minutes, afraid to move. The objects were arranged in a rough semi-circle. One was slightly larger than the others. He could see no windows, doors, or markings on them. They appeared perfectly smooth and metallic. Edwin later described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of his life.
The Objects Depart
Suddenly, all five objects lifted off simultaneously. They rose straight up to about 100 feet, then shot off at tremendous speed toward the south, disappearing in seconds. Edwin was left shaken but unharmed. He immediately drove home and told his wife what he had seen. The event left a deep and lasting impression on him.
The Physical Evidence Discovered
The next day Edwin returned to the field with his family. They discovered five perfectly circular rings where the objects had hovered. Each ring was about 8 to 10 feet in diameter. The grass inside each ring was flattened and swirled in a clockwise pattern, as if pressed down by a strong rotating force. The rings were sharply defined and remained visible for weeks afterward. The grass inside the rings was noticeably different from the surrounding crop.
The RCMP Investigation
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police took the case very seriously. Officers visited the site, photographed the rings, collected soil samples, and interviewed Edwin and his family. The RCMP report described the rings as “indeterminate origin” and noted that no conventional explanation could account for the marks. Soil samples were sent for analysis but showed no unusual radiation. The physical traces were undeniable and well-documented.

What Do You Think?
A hardworking farmer sees five metallic dome-shaped objects hovering and spinning in his field, leaving perfect circular swirled rings in the grass that were documented by the RCMP. The case has stood the test of time with no conventional explanation. Was Edwin Fuhr visited by extraterrestrial craft in 1974, or is there another explanation for what he saw that morning in Saskatchewan? Edwin comes across as a solid dude with absolutely no reason to be making this story up, right? This remains one of Canada’s most credible and compelling UFO landing cases.
